Why Us?
Rainguard was developed and patented in 1996 in cooperation with E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company. Automatic recoiling of the unit is provided by the memory set polymer insert composed of polyethylene terephthalate. After extensive product testing it was introduced commercially and since that time has sold more than 500,000 units. All of Rainguard’s components are manufactured in the USA and Canada. Final assembly is carried out at our Fort Erie, ON facility and finished product is distributed from Niagara Falls, NY.
Why do I need a Rainguard's Automatic Downspout Extension?
| Most homes have enough land around them to absorb rain that falls on the roof, if the water is discharged properly from downspouts. This replenishes your natural groundwater aquifer, and helps reduce pollution caused by sewer overflows.
You can also help prevent wet basements and erosion damage to your lawn and flowerbeds by discharging rainwater at least three feet (preferably six feet) from your foundation.
You have several options when installing downspouts:
- Underground drainage is expensive-$1500 or more.
- Fixed metal extensions rust and dent, and are ugly obstacles you'll trip over, and hit with the lawn mower.
- Fold-down extensions do work-if you remember to lower them every time it rains, and raise them every time the rain stops!
- Self-retracting extensions. The fold-down type are expensive at $40-$50 each. Other types are less than four feet long-too close to your foundation.
